Tilt pendant — matte black cylinder, walnut strap, brass pivot disc

The object

A spotlight that learned restraint.

Tilt is iron with a matte baked finish, hung from two metres of fabric cable. The cylinder pivots inside a walnut strap and locks with a brushed brass disc — aim it at the table, the shelf, the painting, the corner. Off, it disappears into the dark. On, it draws one warm circle and leaves the rest of the room alone.

The mechanism

Three moves.

  1. Hang

Two metres of cable and a slim canopy. Set the drop where you want the light to live — low over a table, high in a corner.

  2. Tilt

The cylinder pivots through the walnut strap and holds its angle. No tools after install; aim it by hand whenever the room changes.

  3. Light

One warm beam where you pointed it. The E27 socket takes any bulb you like — bright for work, low for late.

The lineup

The Tilt pendant lit low over a dark walnut dining table at night

One beam on the table. The rest of the room stays night.

From the first ceilings

Notes from dark rooms.

I aimed it at the reading chair instead of the floor and the whole corner became a place. It does exactly one thing and that's the point.

The strap-and-disc pivot is smoother than fixtures I've paid four times as much for. It holds the angle, full stop.

Hung three over the bench at staggered heights like the photo. People touch the walnut strap before they say anything.

Off, it's a black silhouette you stop noticing. On, the table is the only lit thing in the flat. Cinema.

Questions

Asked, answered.

How does it install?

Like any ceiling pendant: a slim Ø8 cm canopy over a standard junction box, with two metres of cable to set your drop. If you're not comfortable with fixture wiring, a qualified electrician will have it up in under half an hour.

What bulb does it take?

A standard E27 screw socket, rated to 60 W. The included 5 W warm LED is for 220 V regions; in North America simply fit any E26/E27 LED bulb — they're interchangeable in this fixture.

How far does it tilt?

The cylinder pivots roughly 90 degrees through the walnut strap — straight down to nearly horizontal — and the brass disc holds the angle until you move it again.

Can I shorten the cable?

Yes. The 2 m fabric cable adjusts at the canopy, so the same fixture works over a low dining table or in a tall stairwell.

What's the difference between the finishes?

Geometry and hardware are identical — iron shade, walnut strap, brass disc. Black disappears into a dark room; white reads as an object against pale walls.

Is the Trio three separate fixtures?

Yes — three complete pendants, each with its own canopy and cable, so you can stagger heights and angles however the space asks.

What's the warranty?

Two years against defects in materials and workmanship, handled over email. The full terms are on the Terms page.
